Gwyneth Paltrow’s Guide To Porn

Goop guide to Porn

Hollywood legend Gwyneth Paltrow has run her brand GOOP for many years now and has become very rich through selling wellness and lifestyle products that sometimes make headlines. A candle smelling like her vagina and products with questionable health claims were among the more bizarre ones. But many customers worldwide do enjoy the products and the touch of movie glamour that comes along with them. Now Paltrow is sure to make headlines again as GOOP has published Paltrow’s guide to porn.

Gwyneth Paltrow is recommending her favorite porn sites and pushing GOOP’s sex-positive message towards a mainstream audience. The Oscar-winning performer writes: »The first time you watch porn that genuinely and deeply arouses you is akin to the moment you have sex with another person and experience an elation that makes you think, Oh, so this is what sex can be.«

She adds: »Of course, porn is not for everyone. For some, taking sex to an external world, on a screen, disconnects us from our own bodies. Others experience porn as a powerful exploration of sexuality.«

She goes on by recommending her favorite porn sites and adult entertainment offerings, most of them claiming to be ethically produced. She thinks that her selection »is compelling and diverse, shown through the female gaze, made by women,« and – most importantly »hot«.

The recommendations are categorized as »Porn With A Plot«, »Porn That’s Real«, »Porn You Can Listen To«, »Porn You Can Read« and »Porn That Is Free«.

The alternative porn site XConfessions is among the two recommended sites under the category »Porn With A Plot«. The site can be subscribed to for a whopping 35 Dollars a month, which is on the higher end of the spectrum. But the Barcelona-based company by Erika Lust offers quite a lot of high-quality content so you might argue the price is more than justified. GOOP writes the site is a »place for crowdsourced erotic indie films that are based on real-life stories and sexual fantasies submitted anonymously. Each month, Lust and her team adapt two of those stories into short erotic films that you can stream online.« Additionally, they recommend the feature-length offerings called Lust Cinema, also by Erika Lust.

A slightly more affordable recommendation in the category of porn with longer plotlines is the website Sssh.com. For 20 Dollars you can get »cinematic porn« with an Indie vibe to it. According to GOOP Sssh.com »offers award-winning original movies, erotic fiction, audio stories, and VR that draw from member feedback on their desires and fantasies. The films are sophisticated, sex-positive, and beautifully shot.«

The category »Porn That’s Real« features the quite affordable website Beautiful Agony which is available for 8 Dollars a month. The unique selling point here according to Gwyneth is that the climax scenes are very authentic. »Beautiful Agony is all about the orgasm. Here, there aren’t any story lines or performances. In fact, you don’t see anything that happens from the shoulders down.« So if faces reaching orgasm is your thing then you are happy GOOP found it for you.

Another site strongly recommended by Paltrow’s company is Pink Label TV which can be subscribed to for 25 Dollar a month. It focuses on LGBTQ, feminist, queer, BIPOC and nonbinary perspectives. »This queer-owned streaming platform hosts a wide range of adult films and is an indispensable Criterion-like resource for finding vintage and classic porn, documentaries, and collections of award-winning films from adult film festivals around the world.« Additionally »Founder Shine Louise Houston also curates erotic films made by independent filmmakers.«

The only offering on the list that caters to audio aficionados is Dipsea. A subscription costs 9 Dollars/month and with Dipsea users can find »a female-founded audio-only app that offers audio erotica and sexual-wellness content.« The App features several hundred of original audio stories ranging from ten to twenty minutes in length. GOOP thinks that the »audio quality is unmatched, and the app feels like you’re browsing Headspace rather than Pornhub.«

If neither visuals nor audio porn is catering to your needs GOOP found a website that might be the right thing for you anyway. The category »Porn You Can Read« features the website Frolic Me which offers both literature as well as videos. And while a video subscription would cost you 13 Dollars a month, the stories are free. GOOP thinks: »Because sex is both physical and mental, erotic literature can be a great way to stimulate your mind (and with the right toy, your body).«

The only other free offering is recommended under the category »Porn That’s Free«. The website Bellesa convinced Paltrow enough to be included in her guide to porn. She writes: »Many amateur porn sites are free, sure, but the caveat is that landing on a good video is a gamble. It can feel overwhelming sifting through so much content (and so many pop-up ads). But at Bellesa, you get premium porn that’s made by women and never shows a fake orgasm.«
