Dale Bradford, the former editor of Erotic Trade Only magazine, is out with a new book: »How Adult Toys Became A Multi-Billion-Pound Industry«, which examines the adult entertainment industry in the UK.
Bradford has been a B2B magazine editor since 1995 and has been editor of ETO from 2003 to 2022.
A spokesperson of the publisher said on the occasion of the publication of the book, »With almost every major UK supermarket now devoting shelf space to adult toys, ‘From Sex Shops To Supermarkets’ chronicles the phenomenal growth of the sector, and how mainstream television, cinema, and celebrities have rushed to embrace it.«
From the consumer electronics giant creating its own sex toy line, to an individual’s prosecution that could have threatened Ann Summers’ business model, to the ‘great jiggle ball shortage of 2012’, the book tells the intricate story of many of the developments and stories that marked the past decades in an evergrowing industry.
The publishing house added, »Peppered with exclusive interviews and unique insights, this book is not only a valuable resource for anyone who has an interest in the sex toys sector, it also tells a fascinating story that cannot be found anywhere else.«
As the focus of the book is on the British market, one of the most successful brands in the market got an in-depth analysis of its rise to the top. Lovehoney was one of the first brands using clever marketing and PR to get its products and services mentioned in the mainstream. And Bradford therefore dedicates a good portion to Lovehoney’s PR approach and reveals some of the company’s strategies behind some of its most successful campaigns.
The book is now available in all bookstores and online book shops.
