The German-American sex toy group WOW Tech will sue the sex tech brand Lora DiCarlo in the US. The makers of We-Vibe and Womanizer are apparently claiming that three of its patents have been violated by Lora DiCarlo. The case has been filed in the US District Court of Oregon.
The Berlin-based sex toy group WOW Tech filed a lawsuit against the up-and-coming pleasure brand Lora DiCarlo as the company is convinced the start-up and media darling Lora DiCarlo has infringed on patents held by WOW Tech and used in Womanizer products, namely the Womanizer Pleasure Air Technology.
Aside from Womanizer and We-Vibe WOW Tech also owns the brands Arcwave, Romp, and Novoluto. Additionally, the group exclusively markets and distributes lubricant products by pjur in North America.
After filing the lawsuit in Oregon, the German sex toy specialists released a statement explaining that the strict enforcement of its patents is part of its business model: »WOW Tech is committed to vigorously enforcing these intellectual property rights against all infringers, including retailers, distributors, and other market participants selling infringing products. After CDH Investments acquired a substantial stake in the company at the beginning of 2020 and became the main shareholder, WOW Tech set the strategic direction for the coming years with an even stronger focus on innovation and enforcement of its patent portfolio.«
Johannes von Plettenberg, CEO of WOW Tech, added: »The WOW Tech team is working hard, investing much time, budget and passion to create new and innovative products. We will make sure that these achievements are protected. Therefore, we act with full force against all those who infringe our patents, be it brands, retailers or distributors. We also have a responsibility to our valued partners who sell our products. We want to ensure that copycats do not harm their businesses and sales.«
So far there has been no comment from Lora DiCarlo about the lawsuit.
