According to a report in the Daily Beast, Osama Bin Laden has used his excessive pornography collection, among other things, to communicate with terror cells worldwide by means of encrypted messages in the digital copies of the films. A documentary gets to the bottom of the story, but important questions remain open.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The architect of the attacks of September 11, 2001, who was tracked down and shot by a special task force of the U.S. Army in 2011 was apparently a huge fan of pornographic films. Presumably also as an excuse to himself and others, he used the XXX material to communicate with terror cells abroad. A documentary by filmmaker Peter Bergen has taken a closer look at the matter.<\/p>\n

And apparently it was quite a lot of work. For the film, Peter Bergen sifted through and analyzed no less than 470,000 individual files from Bin Laden’s computer, which was seized in Abbotabad when he was shot. The filmmaker was uniquely positioned for this, after all he had already conducted an interview with Bin Laden in 1997 and had published four books about the terrorist in the meantime.<\/p>\n

The files of the architect of the 9\/11 attacks were found on five computers, 100 USB sticks and numerous DVDs and cell phones. Bergen says: \u00bbExploring these hard drives, it\u2019s clear that digital information can say a lot. Osama bin Laden\u2019s files left behind an imprint of a complex man, responsible for the murder of thousands of people.\u00ab<\/p>\n

He adds: \u00bbHistory will remember him for that but, in order to cut through the perception of this ascetic in a cave on a holy crusade, it\u2019s important for us to see how he crafted the videos that went out to his followers. Understanding him is vital in order to combat other potential bin Ladens in the future.\u00ab<\/p>\n

While much of the data on Bin Laden’s devices is now publicly available, the U.S. government has kept the porn movies in the terrorist’s collection under wraps until today. Bergen himself is indecisive about the XXX content. Although it is conceivable in his view that Bin Laden may have communicated with terror cells using them, the final proof is still missing.<\/p>\n

Daily Beast admits that forensic psychologist Reid Moloy objects that Osama Bin Laden could have simply used his porn movies like any other consumer. Ultimately, Moloy says, whether one is highly religious or not: \u00bbBiology always triumphs over ideology.\u00ab<\/p>\n
