Bow Wow may be going through a little ex-girlfriend drama, but that’s nothing compared to the full blown lawsuit he’s fighting.
The “Like You” rapper has been fined for not turning over important documents to porn star Katsuni, who is currently suing him for using footage of her in a music video without her consent.
Back in 2013, Shad was hit with a lawsuit from Katsuni, legal name Celine Tran. The adult film star accused the rapper of talking clips of her pole dancing and using them in his video, “Drank In My Cup,” without permission or compensating her.
Because he never showed up to court, the judge granted a default judgment in the plaintiff’s favor to the tune of $79,346.07 to cover damages and the attorney fees.
In January of 2016, the “Roll Bounce” actor went to federal court to demand the default judgement be vacated, arguing that Celine served him at an address he didn’t live at back in 2012. The part-time dancer claims he was definitely served, providing the address to his mother’s house.
The judge ruled in Shad’s favor, throwing out the almost $80K judgement and forcing her to wait until he officially responds to her initial allegations, according to TheJasmineBrand.
This past June, the former 106 & Park host argued in court that any use of Celine’s likeness or image was “incidental, trivial or fleeting.”
He also says he had no actual knowledge of any unauthorized use of her image, and that if footage were used without her consent, it isn’t his fault.
The father of one is now being fined for not handing over important documents within a reasonable amount of time. On December 9th, the judge ordered he pay a total of $7,065 to the plaintiff by January 9th.
The order came with a warning from the judge that lack of payment could result in another default judgment in Celine’s favor, unlikely to be overturned the second time around.
Do you think Bow Wow purposefully used her footage without payment or is it all a misunderstanding? Sound off below.
