When Be You boss Michael Specht resigned two weeks ago, it had already been reported in a side note. Today Orion Fachgeschäfte announced the acquisition of ten stores from the former parent company Beate Uhse.
The adult retailer Orion Fachgeschäfte, which has been more successful in the market than its sister company Beate Uhse AG for years, will take over and continue ten locations of the former Beate Uhse AG. With the sale, Be You will divest its stores in Augsburg, Böblingen, Düsseldorf, Handewitt, Leipzig, Ludwigsburg, Mannheim, Pforzheim, Ulm and Weiterstadt. Be You Managing Director Specht explained in his resignation statement that with the sale of these stores, the restructuring of the insolvent Beate Uhse AG into the new Be You Group has been successfully completed. According to him, the new company is fully financed until the end of the year.
Orion was temporarily rumored to be a buyer for Beate Uhse
During the insolvency phase of Beate Uhse AG, there were rumors that the former subsidiary Orion could take over the legendary Flensburg adult company founded by Beate Uhse. It did not come to that at the time. After the reorganization of Beate Uhse into the new Be You GmbH, the way seemed clear for new negotiations. So now Orion is taking over ten shops.
According to Orion, the deal will be completed by the middle of the year and the Beate Uhse stores will be converted into Orion shops. Heike Susemichel is Managing Director of the Orion stores. Commenting on the deal, she said: »We have been in talks to the management of Beate Uhse since last year to see which shop location fits in our portfolio.«
Orion continues to focus on bricks-and-mortar retailing
Orion is thus continuing its growth course in the stationary retail business, which took on significant momentum last year with the acquisition of five Magic X stores. Be You, on the other hand, seems to be concentrating more on online business after the new company was founded.
