OneUp Innovations, parent company and manufacturer of the sex furniture and accessories brand Liberator, is shifting part of its production to protective clothing and face masks. With this move, the company wants to help combat the lack of urgently needed equipment for hospitals and medical care workers.

OneUp innovations, the US manufacturer of accessories and furniture for the bedroom and sexuality, which has been active for over 15 years, has partially switched its production to the needs of the corona crisis. The production of protective gowns and face masks is running at full steam. The manufacturer reports that it has received an order for 35,000 reusable gowns from the 11 hospitals in Atlanta alone.

Louis Friedman, CEO of the Group, says, »In response to this COVID-19 crisis, I directed my design team to also develop medical facemasks that we could produce in high-volume from readily available materials. That mask is now in production and we are ramping up.«

The Liberator masks are equipped with a three-part filter system and can be washed and reused. In addition to the gowns, more and more orders are coming in for the face masks. A major hospital network has ordered 6,000 masks, while Liberator also sends its masks to retailers like Walmart.com.

Friedman explains: »As we gear up, the safety of our employees is our highest priority. No one is allowed in the facility without a temperature check and all work stations are being outfitted with isolation barriers. We are disinfecting all work surfaces during the day, and lunch and break periods have been added to increase the separation of employees in the dining areas.«

As one of the few manufacturers in the industry that has been producing exclusively in the USA for years, Friedman feels a certain pride in his company’s production capacities: »For years I’ve been criticized for investing in large-scale cut-and-sew manufacturing in the U.S. As the crisis has [now] created an opportunity to help, I’m really glad I did it.«
