One of the best known and highly visible performers in the business is Stoya. She is also a producer, columnist, somewhat of a philosopher, much-noticed op-ed author of two much-discussed New York Time articles and now an author of a collection of essays.
The star tweeted about her upcoming book »Philospohy, Pussycats & Porn« and said that the book will include a »series of essays and stories on sex work, sexuality and how they’re reflected in society.«
The book can be pre-ordered on the website of the publisher, a young startup publishing house called Not A Cult, heavily based on poetry but founded by a multi-media entrepreneur with a lot of background in tech. The publisher is announcing the new and slightly surprising addition to its catalog: »Stoya provides crucial examinations of systemic biases toward sex workers and how sexuality is reflected in society. Stoya often points her journalistic lens inward, providing us with personal, illustriously detailed stories of her life, her collaborators, and how she has built a flourishing media haven in the face of a culture that is still learning how to handle public discourses on sex work.«
Stoya’s works have been published by many esteemed mainstream publications like The Guardian and The New York Times. In addition to being the heir apparent to Sasha Grey (porn’s former best-known performer flirting with the intellectual world), she was starring in two plays on New York stages, written by Dean Haspiel and also in a Sci-Fi-movie called as Ederlezi Rising, a Serbian film currently screening in Vienna.
