According to a survey conducted by the website TickPick, people not only enjoy listening to music during sex, a significant proportion of owners of wireless AirPods simply leave the small headphones in their ears when they have sex. 17% of Apple customers among respondents said they had their own soundtrack in their ears during love-making.
In 2018 alone, according to the manufacturer, 35 million copies of Apple’s wireless headphones were sold. And surprisingly, these are often left in the ear when couples have sex with each other.
Music during sex might sound like a nice idea to most people. Many couples like to move to the beat of the music they have chosen together or to their partner’s favorite songs. Little known, but apparently widespread, is the fact that people leave their wireless headphones in their ears during sex and listen to their own music. This could lead to odd scenarios in which the rhythms don’t fit together at all or crucial communication is made more difficult.
Unfortunately, this curious result is only part of a larger survey by TickPick and countless follow-up questions, which necessarily arise here, were not addressed.
The ticket provider’s website for events, concerts and performances asked its users about the connection between music and their sex life. The results were interesting and sometimes surprising.
Sexual satisfaction among devotees of different music genres
According to the survey, country, blues, jazz and reggae music listeners are the most satisfied with their sex life. 60% of Hip-Hop, R&B and Folk listeners also stated that they were satisfied with their sexuality.
The correlation between musical taste and satisfaction is very worrying. Only 43.6% of couples with different musical tastes are satisfied with their sex life. If, on the other hand, the music preferences are the same, almost 80% say that they are happy with sex in a partnership.
Music genres and sexual preferences
A quarter of all folk fans said that they had at least once cried during sex. While sex lasts the longest among Blues fans with an average of 16 minutes, hip-hop listeners are relatively lazy when it comes to giving oral sex. Differences can also be seen in more unusual sexual preferences. More than 40% of EDM, Heavy Metal and Jazz fans are fond of fetishes. Country, pop and classic rock fans, on the other hand, only stated to about 30% that fetishes play a role in their sex life.
While BDSM is liked by over 50% of indie rock, alternative and folk fans, country and heavy metal listeners prefer role-playing and anal sex. The largest proportion of foot fetishists are among jazz fans. 27.7% of jazz listeners said they had a foot fetish.
Contraception and responsible sex
Heavy Metal and Indie Rock followers have stated to 65% to use contraception during sex. The most sluggish in this area are Country music listeners, only 49% of whom say they have protected sex. However, it is unclear to what extent the survey included how many of the respondents live in permanent relationships. After all, there are other reasons for not using contraception than irresponsibility. However, 25% of country fans said they had one-night stands.
1,000 sexually active people were interviewed. The survey’s full results can be found on the Tickpick website.
