Ron Jeremy About To Put Under Legal Conservatorship: Legend Not Fit For Trial

Ron Jeremy

Legendary porn actor Ron Jeremy will likely be under a conservatorship for the rest of his life. A court in California ruled that he would not be fit to stand trial in the case against him stemming from allegations of sexual abuse. Jeremy was charged with more than 30 counts of sexual abuse and rape in 2020 and has been in custody since his arrest.

In January 2023, a judge ruled that Jeremy was not fit to stand trial based on two medical reports that found he had an incurable neurocognitive disorder due to symptoms of dementia. His attorney later confirmed that he is currently being treated in a psychiatric hospital, while the criminal trial against the possibly most famous porn actor of all time has been postponed.

Jeremy’s sister filed an application requesting the assignment of a legal conservator to take over the management of his finances and health care. Guardianships of this type are intended for people who can no longer care for themselves due to medical conditions such as dementia.

The original decision was based on a diagnosis of a specific dementia disorder, in which there is a progressive impairment involving problems with thinking and movement. When defendants are declared incompetent to stand trial due to such disabilities, they are often sent to psychiatric facilities instead of being subjected to regular court proceedings.

Jeremy had originally denied all charges and pleaded not guilty to all counts against him. The charges against the porn legend included rape, sexual assault as well as abuse. He was arrested and charged in 2020. A total of 21 plaintiffs leveled the accusations against him.

The 69-year-old will thus now have a guardian to take care of his finances and medical issues while he undergoes steady treatment. Although legal capacity can be restored in some cases, this was considered unlikely for Jeremy due to his specific diagnosis.
